For many years now, Soundstreams has had a dedicated group of volunteers, who donate their time as ticket-takers, ushers and all-around helpers at special events. We are extremely thankful to these individuals, who always present a smiling face at our concerts, and who have likely ripped your ticket, or shown you to your seat!

Linda and Paul Gordon (right) are a husband and wife who have been volunteering for Soundstreams since 2012. We spoke with them about their interests and why they chose to volunteer for an arts organization.

We volunteer for a number of theatres [in Toronto] and wanted to volunteer in a different area of the arts.  Soundstreams offers a wide variety of programming, and offered us an opportunity to volunteer with a music organization. We particularly enjoy being a part of Soundstreams, [because we are] a part of a musical culture that supports Canadian talent through its concerts and commissioning of new works. All of the events put on by Soundstreams are exciting, in particular the special events as they are in different venues and we get to meet and talk with the patrons and guests. Always a delight!

We've just returned from a year away, so we have only been to one concert recently, which was Vespers, in November 2014.  It was fascinating to see a new piece programmed alongside Monteverdi's Vespers and was another great example of Soundstreams’ innovative concerts.

Another great collaboration was Sealed Angel in 2012 
(top image), where the singers held a single light over their music, and it created a lighted trail as they moved around the stage, with the dancers dancing in between. It was an amazing sight!
