A perennial audience favourite, they’ll present a program encompassing Latvian, Canadian and international choral favourites.

“The Latvians soar, shine and spin diaphanous fabrics of sound, as lovely as rays of light through stained glass, all the while instilling the words with genuine emotion.” – NPR (National Public Radio)

“Spiritual transcendence, ghostly wailing, harmonic deconstruction, microtonal singing – not your average concert experience.” – BachTalk, Dublin

Regarded as one of the world’s great choirs, The Latvian Radio Choir (LRC) is a unique musical group in the choral music domain. They are a chamber choir able to perform the widest repertoire from early music to the most sophisticated modern scores. The Latvian Radio Choir is a creative lab insistently encouraging composers to write music that challenges the scale of vocal possibilities.

On November 17th, at the Metropolitan United Church, choral lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy the full latitude of these vocal possibilities in all their emotional glory when the LRC, under conductor Sigvards Kļava presents a mesmerizing program featuring Latvian, Canadian, Russian and  international choral works, i.e.  Ēriks  Ešenvalds, Rachmaninov, Pëteris Vasks, Santa Ratnice et al.

The strong ties between Latvia and Canada, especially on the eve of the occasion of the Latvian centenary, are reflected in the concert program.  The Latvian Radio Choir is always a sell-out and a celebration.
