Steve Reich at 80

Main Stage

The Pulitzer Prize-winning father of minimalism performs onstage in his 80th birthday bash with special guests, presented in association with Massey Hall.

Toronto leads the way with the first Steve Reich concert of his milestone 80th year! Hailed by The New York Times as “our greatest living composer,” Steve Reich turns 80 in 2016. In devising a whole new way of thinking about music, the Pulitzer Prize-winning father of minimalism has had a profound impact on contemporary work, influencing artists as diverse as Radiohead, John Adams, and Bang on a Can.

Here is a message from Steve letting you know how excited he is to come to Toronto:

Having showcased many of Reich’s compositions over the years, among them the 2010 world premiere of Mallet Quartet, Soundstreams welcomes this musical legend to the stage for a birthday bash with special guests, featuring Clapping Music, the iconic Music for 18 Musicians, and Tehillim.

Presented in association with The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall.
