Main Stage

Arvo Pärt’s long-time collaborator, Estonian conductor Tõnu Kaljuste, is considered the greatest living interpreter of his music. Kaljuste is also a champion of Canadian music, having premiered several large-scale choral works of R. Murray Schafer with the Soundstreams annual series. Kaljuste conducts Pärt’s austere but deeply moving choral work Stabat Mater as well as the world premiere of Ontario composer Paul Frehner’s LEX, a monumental oratorio that sets to music religious, poetic, and even scientific texts – including Newton’s three Laws of Motion!

Zipangu is the world premiere of the film created and staged by Michael Greyeyes and performed by dancer Ceinwen Gobert accompanied by live orchestra, Ensemble Soundstreams.
