Closest to the range and timbre of the human voice, the cello is capable not only of deeply emotive and soulful music, but also bright, soaring melodies. Imagine the rich resonance of 8 virtuoso cellists from Canada and around the world in masterpieces like Fratres by Arvo Pärt, and Bachianas Brasilieras #5 by Heitor Villa-Lobos! The 8 cellists are joined by star soprano Ambur Braid, and the program is conducted by Olari Elts, Chief Conductor of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. The program also includes powerful and energetic works by Kaija Saariaho, Pascal Dusapin as well as compelling world premieres from Canada and Estonia.
