The critically acclaimed sensation returns for a third year to take Handel’s masterpiece apart, strip it down to its essence and put it back together in an electro-improv version that’s full of surprises.
Four singers, accompanied by guitar, electronics, electric harpsichord, electric organ and turntables, will explore a selection of the work’s most popular movements through the lens of their own unique styles and cultural backgrounds.
This year’s ensemble features all new vocalists including: CBC Music “Classical Musicians Under 30” soprano, Adanya Dunn, eclectic jazz singer-songwriter, Elizabeth Shepherd, east-coast tenor Jonathan MacArthur and west-coast baritone Justin Welsh.
Staged in the intimate, cabaret-style underground of Toronto’s iconic Drake Hotel, dramaturg Ashlie Corcoran (The Ugly One, Tarragon Theatre and Theatre Smash, The Gay Heritage Project, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre) and music director Adam Scime (Musik für das Ende, Soundstreams and New Music Concerts), return to lead these talented artists in an interactive experience that will never be the same twice.
Buy your tickets today, but hurry! Last year’s performances sold out!
This is the naughty boy of Messiahs and not to be missed!
